Assassin’s Creed Origins Review

Assassin’s Creed Origins tells the story of Bayek and Aya and the origin of the Assassin Brotherhood. Here is our Assassin’s Creed Origins Review.

The game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, it was originally released on October 26, 2017, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The story of Assassin’s Creed Origins is focused on Bayek and Aya as they mourn their son and seek revenge on the group that murdered him. Over the course of the story, you will visit a ton of places in Egypt and meet some important historical figures like Cleopatra and Julius Caesar, there are probably also other important people like that in there, but I personally didn’t recognize any. The story is just so rich and full of character, I wish they introduced some more key figures during the main story but with the amount of side missions and stories to explore, I quickly forgot about it.

I just loved how big the game felt while the main story itself isn’t that big, to be honest, but because the world is just that big and rich in character, it instantly felt a lot bigger. There are some side quests that stick out but 1 thing stuck out even more, in a positive way, there were no tailing missions. A lot of the missions do feel kinda the game, assassinate X, bring Y to Z, investigate A, and so on, but its rotation and time in between those types of missions were perfectly split up that at no moment did it get annoying.

I thought Syndicate had perfected the climbing but Assassin’s Creed Origins made it even better. Almost everything is climbable and at no moment I felt like it did something I didn’t want. Sure, sometimes I wanted to climb a ladder to get up to something, but then it climbed up the stone right next to it. Did that matter? No, because everything was climbable. The only thing I didn’t like climbing was the pyramids, but that was mainly because it was a bit slow.

The combat felt a lot smoother, while I personally was terrible at blocking and couldn’t figure master it correctly, the dodge was already enough. There are a lot of opportunities to show off how good you got at it and it feels really rewarding. There are massive elephants you can take down, bounty hunter-type enemies, and the battle arena. Is stealth more your thing? it’s also super rewarding taking out a massive fort without being seen and completing those locations for some extra loot and exp.

The gear system from Unity and Syndicate is a lot more streamlined now but they added a ton of new weapon types that all feel different, so you can pick and choose whatever suits your playstyle the best. There is just a lot of customization with the suits that you can buy and mounts you can get. There is even a crossover quest with Final Fantasy 15 that gives you a sword, shield, and Chocobo mount and I used those the whole way through the game after getting them.

Visually Assassin’s Creed Origins aged like fine wine, everything looked just amazing. From the characters to the beautiful scenery, everything just felt right and even the FF15 stuff just fits in perfectly. The only thing that looked kinda off were the random NPCs and minor characters’ faces at times, it wasn’t bad in any way, but at times it was kind of noticeable and some characters do look a bit too much alike when the same hair also gets reused a lot.
