In Balloon Fight, you play as a little guy trying to take down birds with balloons that try to take you down. Here is our Balloon Fight Review.
The game was developed by Nintendo R&D1 and HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, This version was originally released on January 22, 1985, for the Nintendo Entertainment System but has been ported over to the majority of Nintendo platforms. It’s currently also available on the Nintendo Switch Online NES Service, this is also the version I played to review the game.
Flying around it this Balloon boy who starts off with just a single balloon trying to take down these birds that can only fly using balloons as well, but their beaks can also pop your balloon. After taking them down, you need to quickly hit them again when they are on the ground or falling down, because they have some technology you dont have. They can pump up their own balloons again to try and take you down again. When all birds are done for, you go to the next level. It’s a very simple but fun concept, but it does get pretty hard if you are not used to this kind of game and the glide that the character does.
It’s very slippery how you control your character and that is part of the challenge. After the 1st bonus level, you get a 2nd balloon so you have more chance to complete the levels when they get harder. The game is a joy to play for a bit, especially for a game that is this old and if you have the Nintendo Online service and want to check out some classics but are short on time, this is one of the games you should try out.
