A fun twist
What I really like about this game is its setting. You’re not running around in a big open field that’s supposed to be a battlefield. Instead, you’re fighting inside gigantic rooms like kitchens or garages. I found myself taking cover behind chair or table legs, which I thought was a pretty funny detail. It’s a fun and original concept.
Jetpacks
The jetpack is a cool addition that makes you adjust your playstyle a bit. Normally, I have a kind of jetpack allergy (thanks to games like COD), but in this one it actually feels like it belongs. I even noticed myself trying to use it tactically. Your movement feels completely different from a standard third-person shooter. Because of the jetpack, you can jump higher than usual, which makes it easier to move around obstacles.
Light-hearted fun
The game also makes great use of light-hearted humor, something we could all use these days. It’s clearly meant to be a silly, non-serious shooter. On the Steam page, the developer describes it as: “Play as tiny jetpack-wearing agents in a gigantic world full of household objects, with over-the-top weapons and physics.” That gives you a good idea of the tone right away. I gave it a try, and like I said, I liked the concept: a light-hearted shooter you can play with your friends. Unfortunately, not many people are playing it, which leads to empty lobbies. (I wasn’t even sure if I was playing against real people or bots.) I had fun for a bit, but the lack of players means there’s not much challenge. After a few matches, you start to feel done with it. It quickly becomes repetitive really quickly, mostly because the concept is fun but also pretty simple.
Conclusion
BULLET YEETERS is a fun and original shooter that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The setting is creative, the humor works, and the jetpack adds a refreshing twist to the gameplay. Unfortunately, hardly anyone is playing it, so you often end up in empty lobbies and the fun wears off quickly. But hey, no one’s forcing you to play it, and it’s free anyway. So why not give it a try? Since it’s Free to Play, the developer is of course trying to make some money through microtransactions. And honestly, some of those are quite strange, maybe even a little absurd.
