Crushed in Time Preview – Gamescom 2025

I was extremely fortunate to get a preview of the upcoming Draw Me A Pixel game, Crushed in Time, during my Gamescom tour, a spin-off of their amazing game ‘There Is No Game’ and ‘There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension’

If you’ve never played these games, you really, really should; each is better than the last and is a definitive contender for the best puzzle games of all time. And their new game, Crushed in Time, continues their absolute dominance over creative puzzle games. It is all the humour and charm of their previous work, with brand new mechanics and story. We follow the characters of Sherlock and Watson from the previous game as they go to solve a new mystery.

This game has a whole new system for solving puzzles, specifically, grabbing and pulling an object, then releasing it to have it shoot across the screen. This is part of the 3 new mechanics of this game: grabbing elastic parts of the world to stretch and push them with momentum, or to have the object interact with some part of the world. There is also a new cranking system.

The entire game has a beautiful art style that blends 3D models with the feeling of 2D. And the entire game is point and click, no need for a keyboard, so you can sit back and relax, solving interesting and unique puzzles. One thing that the devs mentioned, as I was playing the demo that they really put a lot of time into making all the puzzles feel logical. No weird solutions, everything has a logic to it. Something that I have to agree on as a fan of puzzle games. At no point during the demo did I feel the game was hiding information from me; the solutions all gave me the feeling of “oh, I should have thought of that,” rather than some games, which will give a feeling akin to wondering what drugs I should have taken to think of a certain illogical solution.

The game is set to release in 2026, with a mobile and tablet version releasing soon after the PC version launches. Although I was informed by the devs that this is, unless things go horribly wrong, in which case you can expect it by the year 9202 at the latest.

If you have even a mild interest in Puzzle games, feel free to check out Crushed in Time and make sure to show your support by wishlisting it now on Steam. I personally cannot wait to play the full game as a huge fan of the There is No Game franchise.
