Diablo IV is a top-down adventure RPG that builds on the story set by the previous 3 games. Here is our Diablo IV Review.

The game was developed and published by Blizzard, it was released on June 5, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Diablo is a big name in the gaming world, but somehow I do feel a tiny bit disappointed, I always had so many high hopes, and after playing Diablo 2 and feeling like it was terrible and not enjoying 3 to its fullest after completing the main story, I put so much more hopes on Diablo 4, and while it is a lot better than its predecessors, it still leaves a lot to be desired.

The main issue I have with Diablo 4 is that it feels designed to be played online with friends and not alone, and while that is not an issue all of the time, I kind of wanted to feel good playing this solo as well, but I just ended up feeling extremely bored. When I popped into the game with a friend, the game suddenly started making a lot more sense and also felt a lot easier to get through.

Diablo IV Review - Boss fight

Its story is kind of forgettable for me, I just didn’t end up caring about it as much as I was enjoying the gameplay, and while playing with a friend, you don’t always pay as much attention to it, especially with a game that’s heavy with its story being told through reading. When the cutscenes did pop up, they were absolutely amazing.

The gameplay has not evolved much, but it works and doesn’t really need much changing over its other entries or competitors, I feel like if they started adding even more to it, it would complicate things too much for the casual player. At the same time, everything is just very forgettable, this really is a turn-your-mind-off type game where you can just lose yourself in, but at the same time forget almost everything about it a week later.

It’s a visual masterpiece, even on console. I have never seen any cutscene look THIS good, and that says a lot. Playing on the Xbox Series X I never felt any drop in frames or any drop in visual quality, but what did happen is that I started to get bored by looking at the dark grey world.

While I personally didn’t like the game, I can see the fun and pleasure of the game, but the game is just not for everyone, and that doesn’t always matter. The game is on Game Pass, so there is always that to try the game out.
