After playing several big AAA titles, I needed a break with something smaller and lighter. Duncrush was exactly what I needed. This incremental dungeon crawler is perfect when you want a short, relaxing gaming session.
As someone who recently fell in love with incremental games, Duncrush turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t entirely sure when I bought it, but like most games in this genre, it was very affordable. I paid just $4 and forgot about it until I was bored one day and checked my recent purchases. I installed it and started playing, and I couldn’t be happier. From the very first moments, I wished I had started sooner because I immediately knew it was going to be fun.
The gameplay is very simple and relaxing: you don’t need to press many buttons. You simply walk around a square arena, defeat enemies to collect loot and money. With duplicate loot you can upgrade your gear, and with money you can buy a wide variety of upgrades such as damage boosters, new attack types and much more. Later in the game you can also rescue helpful NPCs that assist you during your runs.

I didn’t really notice much of a story, but with a game like this you don’t really need one. Overall, Duncrush is very simplistic, yet it doesn’t need anything more to be enjoyable, especially at such a low price. The game does get a tiny bit repetitive at times, especially during short upgrade dips, but those moments usually don’t last long. In many ways it felt calming. I was in the middle of some intense AAA games when I booted this up, and it was a very welcome change of pace to play something that doesn’t require too much thinking or heavy combat.
