Forza Horizon 2 is a racing game that came out in 2014 for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but it’s also playable on the Series Consoles. The game is developed by Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios. Please enjoy our Forza Horizon 2 Review (Xbox One)!
Comparing this game to the 1st and 5th one in the series, there is a lot of things wrong with this one. Sadly, the open-world bit feels really stripped. While it improved on the 1st game with the off-road stuff, the road trip element really just makes the game more boring and linear.
Every time you do a small road trip to a city, do 4 races and then you go off to the next city… and that’s the whole game. This made the game so extremely boring, especially because every time you got to the same city again, it felt like I was doing the same 4 races again but with just a different car.

Visually the game did really improve, the cities and landscapes look a lot closer to the newer games and the way it plays and the HUD as well. The areas are probably Italy-inspired, it just looks so nice, it has some open fields and cool cities to drive around in. But due to the way the game is played, it just gets boring really quickly to see the same few locations over and over again.
The soundtrack is just great to listen to, it has some great hits on the radio that just fit the game perfectly again. Having some of my favorite bands in there like CHVRCHES made me hyped up to race every time their song came on.

Overall, I’m pretty disappointed about how the game works, it would have been so much better to have a ton of random races to do all over the map instead of this linear approach to the game. If it didn’t have that it would be a close to perfect game for its time seeing how the more recent Forza Horizon games have turned out.
