    Ghosts ‘n Goblins Review

In Ghosts ‘n Goblins you take on the undead, devils, and all kinds of monsters as a knight to rescue a princess. Here is our Ghosts ‘n Goblins Review.

The game was developed and published by Capcom, This version was originally released on June 13, 1986, for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s currently also available on the Nintendo Switch Online NES Service, this is also the version I played to review the game.

Just like most NES games, this didn’t hold up as great as I thought at first, but it is at least still pretty playable and can be enjoyed if you like games like this. For its time, it really stands out and I can see why they made a remake a while ago as well because at its core it’s just really enjoyable, but the difficulty is just a bit too high for my personal liking.

You got 2 hits and then it was over, unless you find some new armor after you got hit once, but the drop rate seemed pretty low so I personally just ended up running and running somewhere mid-level when I saw the red devil enemy for the first time, because that guy was hard to take down. Luckily the Switch Online rewind feature made it a bit more bearable for me to find some better ways to dodge his attacks and practice a bit as well.

For its time, it’s a pretty visually detailed game, something I didn’t expect at first. You know exactly what is what and what will hurt you or help you. I do wish they made it a bit more clear what power is better or if you like pick an upgrade because you can see what you picked up below you, but it’s just in a really strange spot.
