Step 2: Everything in the Nine Realms
This second stage will have you hunting down everything in the game and even exploring areas you have no reason to go to in the story like Muspelheim’s Crucible, Nifelheim’s Tree of Ravens, and Midgard’s Sanctuary Grove. There is a lot to explore in the realms and it is worth doing.

    The Florist
    The Librarian
    The Curator
    Rebel Leader
    New Friends
    Full Belly
    Phalanx
    Collector

Step 3: A Battle to End Battles
This final stage will be part of the second Stage, however, due to the nature of the enemies, you will encounter its best left to its own stage. This is where you will fight 2 specific enemies, The Valkyrie Queen, and the Grave King. These 2 fights are the single hardest parts of Ragnarök and they are completely optional, well not so much if you want the trophy. For both of these, it is Highly recommended to be at the highest power level you can and be well-versed in battle in the game. If you go in half-heartedly you wouldn’t make it through these fights, your ally can help you fight them and should be utilised during these encounters as you will really need every trick you know to take down these foes.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:

    Grave Mistake
    The True Queen
    The Bear and the Wolf

    Tips and Strategies:

    • Kratos and Atreus have separate EXP and gain at different rates. This seems to be proportional to activity in combat
    • Although the game plays much like the 2018 release the way you play on the PS5 has been overhauled from the enhanced version of the previous game
    • The Adaptive Triggers on the Dualsense, really affect the way the game plays as opposed to the Dualshock 4
    • Mimir plays a more pivotal role in the game and shouldn’t be ignored, particularly in combat
    • Although there are a lot of “worlds” that could be classified as your “HUB World” the only likely candidate is Vanaheim. The reason for this is that it is very packed, feels like the majority of the game takes place there and has a unique Exploration Mechanic.
    • Some enemies will deal Bifrost Damage, which is similar to the Sigil Arrows. If you are damaged while under the effects of Bifrost, the Purple representation on your health will be converted into damage.
    • You can program the Dualsense Touchpad to activate something by Swiping.
    • The Ormr are unique enemies who will not attack you, instead, they will burrow underground when you are near. If you are able to kill one, however, they will drop valuable resources.
    • You can find 2 Muspelheim Seed in Svartalfheim.
    • Pay attention to Mimir and his commentary, not all are useful, however, sometimes he will provide helpful information.
    • Companions are useful allies to take advantage of in combat situations, they can stager enemies, take them down, or even provide exploration solutions.
    • There is a Point of No Return, which is located just after the Aesir have learnt about Heimdall’s fate ( Comeupance). It should be noted that this is not “THE TRUE” PONR, that is after returning from Muspelheim ( Better Together), however, once you initiate the following events you are locked into the endgame. When you are presented with the option to enter your base camp or explore.

As a final Note, it should be said that the trophies in the game feel more dulled down from its predecessor, as well as in terms of what you can do with the game. This is only because the trophies seem more linear. Without revealing too much about the Narrative and progression of the game, some things that should have a trophy do not, like entering all realms, whereas things like Besties do.

    Trophy Guide:

    The Bear and the Wolf
    Collect all Trophies

You ran headlong into Ragnarök and lived to tell the tale… …mostly!

    The Florist
Collect one flower from each of the nine realms

Throughout your adventure in the Nine Realms, you will come across some strange flowers that even bloom in Fumbulwinter. There are a total of 9 to collect and it is advised to do this post-game. The reason for this is that you will have the freedom to go where you want and need to in order to clean up, as well as have all the equipment that you need to have to collect them. If you want to track these you can do that using the map, which is called Nine Realms in Bloom.

    Dawnbloom – Alfheim

    Soulblossom – Helheim

    Ashpetal – Muspelheim

    Sparkthorn – Svartalfheim

    Starblush – Vanaheim

    Dreamshade – Niflheim

    Frostfinger – Nifleheim

    Ironbell – Jotunheim

    How it Started
    Equip an Enchantment

    STORY

Please refer to Root of the Problem for more information.

    Spit Shine
    Upgrade one piece of Armour

This trophy is for upgrading a piece of armour, a single level as opposed to Ready for Commitment. Please refer there for more information.

    Spartan Ways
    Remember the Spartan teachings

    STORY

This is unlocked after the defence of your home base, which is after returning from Helheim and Asgard. Upon returning to the safety of the sanctuary you find it under attack from Helwalkers. Halfway through this encounter and defending your base, you will unlock a new Rage Ability, which is Wrath. All you need to do now is kill Helwalkers and act in defence of your base until the cutscene plays out, after which you will gain the trophy.

    Full Belly
Obtain all of the Apples of Iðunn and Horns of Blood Mead

For this trophy, you will need to max out Health and Rage which is done by completing 5 levels of upgrades for each. These levels will increase by 1 for each level, an example is shown below, however, you will need a total of 15 Apples or Horns for each Health and Rage.

You will need to collect Appels of Iðunn in order to increase your Health, whereas the Horns of Blood Mead are for your Rage. To find these items you are required to find and unlock Nornir Chests, and to open them you need to complete the puzzle of the runes. These puzzles will require you to rotate objects, break statues, or even light braziers.

As you can see from the above this is a Nornir chest showing that you need to find the Runes that it depicts in order to unlock the chest. Below you can see what the chest looks like when you have opened it.

Below you can see what it will look like when you pick one up.

    Knock off the Rust
    Purchase a Skill

Simply buy any skill that you would like with the XP you earn. This trophy is really that simple, you don’t need to buy it for Kratos either, it could be for Atreus. Do remember that each character has their own XP, meaning if you focus on Kratos all the time Atreus will not gain much and you will struggle to upgrade him.

    A Grizzly Encounter
    Battle the Bear

    STORY

This is the first trophy you will obtain and will take roughly 40 minutes, because of all the story elements that get presented to you. Once Kratos has awoken from his dream he will need to go on a little hunting trip where he soon learns that tracking a Bear might lead to his target, follow the blood trail and once you leave the second cave you will get ambushed by a bear. This will lead you to battle it and upon reducing his health to 0 a cut scene will play out and the trophy will be unlocked.

    Blood Debt
    Battle the God of Thunder

    STORY

Upon returning home and going to rest an unexpected visitor intrudes on Kratos’s home once more (If you saw the after-events of God Of War 2018 you will have seen the intro to this). Sit through the cut scene and you will be put into a battle scenario, best your enemy in all 3 arenas and the trophy will unlock.

    Backyard Brawl
    Battle the Mysterious Valkyrie

    STORY

This trophy will be shortly after The Cauldron, once you have returned to Kratos’s Home. After a short cutscene which will be interrupted by Hell Walkers, you will need to kill them and get ambushed by a new Valkyrie which did not feature in God Of War 2018. This Valkyrie has much the same move sets that the one that was in God Of War 2018 had but she is easier than them. Simply beat her by depleting her health bar and getting a cut scene before being awarded the trophy.

    Root of the Problem
    Battle Níðhögg

    STORY

This trophy will take place in Vanaheim as part of your main quest after you have obtained Backyard Brawl. This will take place once your goal has been reached, in order to complete the mission here, the Guardian of the roots of Yggdrasil will attack you and you will need to kill it in order to complete the task you have. The battle isn’t all that challenging, however, with the Níðhögg being a being that lives in the realm between realms it can utilise realm tears to attack you, open its stomach to pull mass in and spit it out and attack you rather efficiently at range. Once you have beaten it you will obtain a new piece of equipment, which is the Amulet of Yggdrasil. This will let you socket enchantments to further power up Kratos.

    The Cauldron
    Destroy Grýla’s cauldron

    STORY

For this trophy, you will be in an unusual sequence learning about Atreus’s part in the events to come, near the end of these events you will need to save a Wolf that has been abducted by Grýla. A few key plots will play out and in order to escape Grýla you will need to destroy her Cauldron. To do this you have a pretty simple boss battle where she will be defending it and attacking you and all you have to do is beat on her. If you manage to stun her you can land some pretty nice damage on her health bar which is tied to the cauldron’s health, but in essence, all you have to do is deplete her health and interact when the button pops on the screen.

    Off the Leash
    Battle Garm

    STORY

This is once you travel to Helheim in order to stop the realm’s realities from crumbling. Your goal here will be to subdue the creature that is set free on your previous visit to Helheim. Simply chase it through Helheim and once you catch it battle it, it’s an easy battle where you will need to evade its attacks and strike when you have him in range, occasionally switching to the Leviathan Axe to restrict movement.

    Comeuppance
    Battle Heimdall

    STORY

This is achieved in Vanaheim when you are enacting the plan to save your allies. Although Heimdall is the Watchman of Asguard this fight is a simple one, the battle will have 3 phases. The first will be just persuading him to fight whereas the second is trying to land a hit against him as well as depleting his health when you do. The final part is his powered-up form. In all his forms he is not all that tough but he does have some moves that can cause Bifrost damage so its best to be cautious

    Better Together
    Battle Hrist and Mist

    STORY

While in the final preparation for Ragnarök, you will be heading the Muspelheim. Here you will be hunting down the Fire Giant Surtr so that Ragnarök can proceed. During the search, you will be attacked by the 2 Valkyries you saw earlier in the game, and you will finally get to put them down. Unlike the previous game in the series, the Valkyries in GOW Ragnarök are significantly easier to battle and go down without much of a fight. They do have 3 phases, however, other than that they have the same moves but without all the damage and negative status effects. Simply put them down, by attacking both or either of them and depleting their health to zero. Upon the Third time, you will get a QTE to complete before getting your trophy.

    Phalanx
    Obtain all Shields

For this trophy you will be required to collect all the shields in the game, luckily there are only 5 and easy to come by. 3 of these shields are story related at minimum, with only one of these being optional to collect. This might sound confusing but the game will offer you a choice between 2 early on. The remaining 2 shields are gained from legendary chests located throughout the realms. You can get this shortly after Off the Leash, as the 5th shield is located around the corner from the encounter. Below are the shields you need:

    • Guardian Shield (Default)
    • Dauntless Shield (Brok & Sindri Optional)
    • Stone Wall Shield (Brok & Sindri Optional)
    • Shatter Star Shield (Legendary Chest)
    • Onslaught Shield (Legendary Chest Helheim)

Although the above images do not show all the shields they do show 4 of the 5 you need.

    Collector
Obtain all Relics and Sword Hilts

This trophy will require you to collect all 14 respective collectables in this category. There are 9 Hilts and 5 Relics that you will need to collect in order to get this trophy, including conditions for other trophies, which have been listed below:

    • Comeuppance
    • Ragnarök
    • Grave Mistake

Above are the key trophies that you will need to complete in order to obtain all the items needed. Below you can find the other things that have no trophies related to them.

    • Defeat the mini-boss Gravel Belly in Alfheim
    • Defeat Olaf Nautson the Kol Raider Chieftain found in Midgard (refer to Besties)
    • Hunted all 48 of Odin’s Ravens and opened the 6 Chests in Niflheim. You will also need to kill the boss The Raven Keeper
    • Have access to the Aesir Prison

Below you can find the relics and Hilts that count for this trophy, where to find them and if there is a cost to obtain them. Any that do not have a cost will be automatically added to your equipment.

Some information was checked against Powerpyx

This is not all that you need, four of these will require you to have an extra resource, which is Lost Pages. These four are:

    • Hilt of Dainsleif
    • Hilt of Angrvadall
    • Hilt of Ridill
    • Hilt of Tyrfing

At the time of writing this guide, it should be noted that some people have experienced problems with obtaining the trophy. The main problem is the fact that the 4 Special Items:

    • Svenfthorn
    • Skirnir’s Gambanteinn
    • Crackle of Bilskirnir
    • Nar’s Cup

In order to get them you will need to hunt around, however, to make this less painful you can find them outlined below:

can sometimes not count as you have them. This is a problem as you will not be able to craft the required items meaning the trophy will be locked out for you.

    Dragon Slayer
Craft the Dragon Scaled Armor Set

This is a set of armour that will become available once you have completed your first Crater Hunt for Invasive Species. Below you can find the 3 Pieces that you need which are:

    • Dragon Scaled Breastplate
    • Dragon Scaled Bracers
    • Dragon Scaled Girdle

Each of these are Level 6 pieces of gear and will require you to complete some of the hunts first to gain the resources you need to craft them. Below you can see the requirements for each of the pieces.

Simply craft the 3 pieces when you can and the trophy is yours.

    How it’s Going
Fully repair the Amulet of Yggdrasil

For this trophy, you will need to obtain all the necessary upgrades to make the Amulet whole again. There are a total of 9 levels to achieve this and each will cost 1 Jewel of Yggdrasil.

    Funeral for a Friend
    Attend the funeral

    STORY/ SIDE-MISSION

For this trophy, you will need to first have completed the game and learned the fate of your allies throughout the story. Once you have done this and watched the credits roll you should be dropped back into Midgard at the Lake of the Nine. Here you will be told about a funeral by Mimir, however, the mission will only be officially active once you have visited Lunda. After you have done this you need to head over to Svartalfheim to the tavern to continue. Once you are done in the tavern the people inside will inform you that the Funeral will be held at Sverd Sand, which is across the way from where you first enter Svartalfheim. Upon arriving there watch the cutscene and you will get some more credits, symbolising the true ending to God of War Ragnarök.

    Rebel Leader
Return the Hammer of the Rebellion

    SIDE-MISSION

This is done in Svartalfheim and accessible once you have been to see the Lady of the Forge. You will find Durlin near the realm portal and gain the quest for the hammer. All you need to do is head over to the island with the Dragon statue on, which is found at the Dragon Beach location (Alberich Island). Once there you need to go to the Dwarf statue which is on the end of the wooden bridge and make the hammer the statue is holding raise to reveal a chest. Loot the chest and return to Durlin at the Tavern you went through on your first visit to Svartalfheim, talk to him and end the quest.

    New Friends
    Fetch Lúnda’s orb

    SIDE-MISSION

This mission is given to you after talking to the female dwarf in Freyr’s Camp, once you have completed the main quest in Vanaheim and have claimed Root of the Problem. She will ask you to retrieve her orb which is located to the very south of the map, you will also be informed about armour you can locate throughout Vanaheim which if recovered she will repair for you free of charge. This is just a simple fetch quest and there isn’t much worth noting, just explore the southern part of the realm and once you have the orb return to Lúnda, who has a shop opposite the location you find the orb.

    Full Gufa
    Free the Hafgufas

    SIDE-MISSION

This mission takes place in Alfheim, and can be started once you have completed the story event there and have the objective to return to your home base. If you choose to explore Alfheim you can free your first of these creatures, which is easily completed. Once you enter the storm you will need to find an access point to head underground which has a marked location. Progress through and you will eventually come to a big open chamber where you will see a Jellyfish creature held captive by Dark Elf webbing. See below for reference.

Simply break the nodes to the webbing and head back out to the surface where you will need to head over to the centre of the area and where the creature is to find the master node. Destroy that and free the creature. Note at the start we stated that it is the first, for the second one you will need to progress the story some until you obtain the Enhancement for the Magic Chisel. With this, you will be able to open the Chisel Runic Door see below for reference.

Once you have travelled through the door you will be able to find the second Hafgufa, all you will need to do is repeat how you saved the first one for the second.

    Making Amends
    Free the Lyngbakr

    SIDE-MISSION

This mission takes place in Svartalfheim and is presented by Mimir. On the Southernmost bank in the Bay of Bounty area, you will find a door not far and a climb from Sindri’s shop. Upon first seeing it Mimir will prompt you to find the Key to it which is located on the Central Island, go and collect it and return to the door to open it. On opening, you will see at the cliff edge a drum which Mimir asks you to strike as hard as you can, this will make the Lyngbakr surface from the Depth of the lake. From this point, you will need to free the creature by heading over to the massive spikes that have been stuck in it and cutting them with the Blades of Chaos, which will reveal a target for you to throw your Axe at. There are 3 total points, one on each of its fins and a third on its tail. When all 3 restraints have been broken you will need to head over to the Left Eye of the Lyngbakr and interact to get a short cut scene, on finishing you will get the trophy.

    It Was a Good Day
    Retrieve Mardöll

    SIDE-MISSION

This mission is a request in Vanaheim and to do it you must first travel to the very south of the map. It should be noted that the mission is available from the very end of the Vanaheim story, once you have returned from completing Root of the Problem. This will take you to the union place of Vanaheim and Asgard, once there you will need to find 3 artefacts. The third of these is Mardöll, upon watching the cut scene you will be awarded the trophy.

    Invasive Species
Complete all of the Crater Hunts

    SIDE-MISSION

For this trophy, you will be required to complete the hunts in the Crater area of Vanaheim. You will gain access to this area after Comeuppance. There are a total of 9 Hunts in the Crater, 7 of these are Dragon Hunts while the remaining 2 are Epic Hunts.

All of these are for favours in the area so they are not hard to find. Below you can find out what kind of a battle you will be in for, the story does a pretty good job at setting you against most if not all of these creatures, however, these ones are more powerful.

    Besties
    Pet Speki and Svanna

    SIDE-MISSION

This is achieved during the Animal Instinct mission in Midgard. The mission is to clear 4 Kol Raider Camps, once you have you will get a Chieftan at the final camp. He is not all that tough if you have been powering yourself up when you can, upon beating him you will need to return to the sled which will trigger a cutscene where Kratos tries to comfort the Wolves. This results in him petting them and unlocking the trophy.

There is a video below to help guide you through this trophy but it is pretty straightforward. Credit for the video goes to Powerpyx.

    NOTE:

It is also possible to manually pet the wolves once you have returned from Helheim/ Asgard. All you need to do is check in on them in the kennels down the hill from your home. It should be noted that it is unclear if this will unlock the trophy and if the trophy is linked to the Side Mission stated above.

    Rightful Place
Return all the Lindwyrms to Ratatoskr

    SIDE-MISSION

Once you have met with the Norns and returned to your home base, Ratatoskr will request your assistance in locating the lost Lindwyrms who are the children of Níðhögg, refer to Root of the Problem for more information. To do this Ratatoskr will give you a capture device which will hold the Lindwyrms once you have located one so that you can return them to him. There are a total of 6 that are scattered through the realms simply find them and return to the Yggdrasil to give them to Ratatoskr. Below is a video, the credit goes to Powerpyx for it.

Above you can find an image of a Rift which is where you will find the Lindwyrms. There is also the broken-down location in the table:

    Pure of Hart
Return the stags of the Four Seasons

    SIDE-MISSION

This is achieved in Vanaheim, after the battle with Heimdall ( Comeuppance) you will get a side-mission to follow the hound that was saved (Scent of Survival), this will lead you to a new area within Vanaheim. Once there you can explore around, if you stumble over the area Wishing Well you will be informed by Arrogant (one of Ratatoskr’s Spectral helpers) that Ratatoskr wishes to see you. Head back to the home base and talk to him which will get you the mission to find the 4 Stags of the Seasons. Now all you need to do is locate them, they are all in Vanaheim and not all that difficult to find.

Below are the image location as well as a Video, credit for the video goes to Powerpyx

Stag of Spring – Wishing Well

    Stag of Summer – Jungle

    Stag of Winter – Plains

    Stag of Autumn – Sinkhole

Once you have collected all 4 of the stags remember to return to Ratataskr to report in and claim your reward.

    NOTE:

It cant be confirmed at the time of writing but once you have defeated Heimdall or entered the new area you might be able to accept the mission from Ratataskr. This would eliminate the need to go to the Wishing Well area and be told by Arrogant to talk to Ratataskr.

    Trials by Fire
    Complete the Trials of Muspelheim

Much like the Trials of Muspelheim in the 2018 release of God Of War, Ragnarok has a Challenge gauntlet as well and equally as taxing. This iteration of the game is slightly different, however, it is laid out in much the same fashion. The idea is to still interact with the melted swords scattered around some areas and complete a set of challenges. The difference this time is that there are runes located in a central area which relates to the little side areas. These runes will be the key to completing these challenges, however more on that below, for now, all you need to worry about is completing the side room and the 2 available challenges. Below you can find a breakdown of which Rune and what the challenges are:

    F Rune
    Challenge 1: Weapon Master
Defeat all Enemies Within the Time Limit
    Challenge 2: Flawless
    Avoid Taking Damage
    H Rune
    Challenge 1: Ring Out Challenge
Opponents Rapidly Regenerate from any Damage
    Challenge 2: Feed The Rift
Throw Orbs into the Realm Tear to close it before time runs out
    R Rune
    Challenge 1: Population Control
Kill the elite while keeping the population under the limit
Challenge 2: King Of The Hill
Keep enemies out of the rings until the time expires

Upon completing all of these you will be able to undertake a combination Rune set of challenges. What this is referring to is what was mentioned at the start, however, you can find a reference image below.

The Runes that you need to combine together to get challenges are located on the floor of the area, as highlighted in the below image.

As you can see, there are rings and within them is a set of Runes that you will need to combine to get a challenge presented to you by the main sword seen above. In order to activate them you will need to head into the corresponding side room and complete a challenge on the sword there. You can complete any of them on the sword there, you do not have to do the newly added 3rd challenge, however, you will need to complete the 3 new ones for the trophy. Below you can find what they are.

    F Rune
    Challenge 3: Rampage
Defeat at Least 20 Enemies within the time limit
    H Rune
    Challenge 3: Health Steal
Take constant damage, but recover health by dealing damage
    R Rune
    Challenge 3: Kill Fuse
Rapidly Kill enemies to increase the timer

Once you have completed a Challenge in the side room, the main sword, referenced below (again), will get that rune illuminated on the Quillons (Cross-Guard). When you have 2 challenges completed you will get both of those runes illuminated on the sword and you will be able to interact and complete its challenge.

    F + H Rune
    Challenge 1: Endurance Challenge
    Survive
    F + R Rune
    Challenge 2: Shield Breaker Challenge
Kill Grunts to break the Elite Enemy’s Shield
    H + F Rune
Challenge 3: Ring Of Fire Challenge
    Stay within the Ring
    H + R Rune
    Challenge 4: Onslaught Challenge
    Survive Until the time elapses
    R + F Rune
    Challenge 5: Phantom Challenge
    Defeat all enemies
    R + H Rune
    Challenge 6: Boss Rush
Defeat a series of challenging enemies

Upon completing all 15 of the highlighted challenges you will be awarded the trophy.

    NOTE:

Upon completing a challenge you will need to open the chest to be able to leave an area.

    Ready for Commitment
    Fully Upgrade one armor set

Armour sets refer to all parts of an armour that fit together (Chest, Wrist, Waist), so you will need all 3 components that make up the full set of Armour. It is advised to use the Dragon Armour as it has the best statistic overall, however, the author used the Raven Tears Armour, which is pretty good as well and could be the best alternative if you do not have the Dragon Armour yet. The idea of this trophy is to get all 3 parts of the armour to Level 9 which is the maximum it can be. This will undoubtedly cost a lot of resources, mostly Hacksilver and something related to your chosen armour in question.

    Ragnarök
    Battle the All-Father

    STORY

This is at the end of the final battle of Ragnarök. you will need to fight him 3 times all told, once outside and twice inside. He has a wide range of attacks and prior to the battle with him, you have another boss battle to deal with. All told this boss is nothing really special, provided you are over level 5 – 6 you shouldn’t have too much trouble.

    Grave Mistake
    Battle King Hrólf

Contrary to what you might think, this guy is way harder than Gná, The True Queen. It is highly recommended to be as higher a power level as you can and have a good set of abilities, if not all in order to stand a chance against him. The reason you will have to confront him is like for Making Amens, Mimir will request that you deal with the Berserkers that are called forth. There are a total of 9 before you can confront King Hrólf scattered throughout the 9 realms. You fight these much the same as you do the Valkire from God Of War 2018, the only difference is you find these in the Gravestone you have probably seen around, see below for reference:

    The True Queen
    Battle Gná

This is the new Queen of the Valkyrie and unfortunately, she is as tough as you might think and still as tough as the Valkyrie you fight in God Of War 2018. She has all the moves that the Valkyrie in the prequel have and more, including Bifrost attacks. It is highly recommended to take caution and be well prepared for this fight. Below are some tips:

    • Have a resurrection stone!!
    • prepare to dodge a lot
    • Countering can be useful but take note of your situation.
    • Your companion can disrupt Gná and buy you time
    • Gná uses Sonic-Stone and Runic attacks which your partner can stop.

You can find her post-game in Muspelheim.
