Hotel Owner Simulator Review

We’ve written reviews for games like this before. The title already says it all. You’re the owner of a hotel and you have to build and maintain rooms. But doesn’t that get boring quickly? The Hotel Owner Simulator was developed by Erik Games and published by PlayWay S.A.

Blondie

The game starts with meeting a blonde girl. The receptionist says: “A blondie asked for you, she looked so excited.” That immediately caught my attention and interest. You’re in this huge hotel, kind of like a tropical resort from The White Lotus. I think they start the game like this to give you that feeling that you too can reach that level, at least in-game. But honestly, we didn’t get that far. At some point it just felt like the game was done. And that cute blonde lady? It was all just a dream. You wake up in your old and rundown hotel. Time to get to work.

Smart move: templates

What I really liked about this game is the template system. You can easily design a room, save it as a template and reuse it. This makes rooms identical and helps you progress faster.
It removes some of the repetitive boredom. While playing, I was very annoyed by one particular glitch. It made alt + tab completely unusable. You were forced to stay in the game. The game does have a Discord server, but my issue was totally ignored. Really disappointing.

Hotel Owner Simulator - cleaning

Cleaning

You start with a small and old hotel that obviously needs fixing up. You clean everything and renovate the rooms. Nothing new for people who play simulation games. You can also interact with guests to keep them happy. Serve them food and drinks, keep rooms clean, change the sheets. If you do this well, your hotel’s popularity goes up. You can also negotiate the price of a room. That’s fun at first, but feels weird when your hotel gets bigger.
You also get guests with different statuses. One is a pimp, the other a tourist.

Just another “build it, clean it, repeat” kind of game.

What’s disappointing is how much this game feels like other hotel simulators. There’s nothing that really sets it apart. It quickly feels repetitive and a bit unfinished. We’ll admit we don’t know how much changes later in the game, because we honestly gave up due to all the repetition. The game also lacks feeling. There’s no vibe while playing, which makes boring tasks feel even more boring. That has nothing to do with realism and everything to do with the urge to just close the game. It has a fun concept and a strong start, but it becomes repetitive too quickly. With a bit more vibe, variety and attention, this could have been a great game. As it is now, it just feels like work. And not the fun kind.

Final Thoughts

It kicks off with a cool vibe, a bit of mystery, and a clean setup with the template system.
The gameplay becomes too repetitive, the vibe is missing, and there’s just not enough to keep you hooked. It ends up feeling more like a chore than a challenge. If you’re into hotel sims and don’t mind doing the same tasks over and over, you might enjoy it for a while.
But for us? It was just another one of those games.
