Indie Games We Think Everyone Needs To Play

Welcome back to another team talk, where we share some stories, good and bad, and share our deepest and darkest gaming secrets (sometimes at least). This week we are going put some amazing indie’s in the spotlight that everyone needs to play!

    EssTee – Guide Writer

One of my all-time favorite indies, that basically no one has ever heard of or played, is Feist. I always try to implore people to play it! Feist is a multi-award-winning handcrafted indie action platformer that is visually beautiful and enchantingly fun to play. Everything about it is so good, the vivid world of feist is brought to life by dynamic and emergent gameplay, it has a wonderful art style and scenery set in serene forest environments, with the final touch of magic being an engaging and charming score/soundtrack to match its cinematic style reminiscent of ‘The Dark Crystal’, ‘Hedgehog in the Fog’, & ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. The game comprises of 10 short levels, and for the platinum all you have to do is complete each level without dying, and to complete each level fast under the 2, 3, or 4-minute limit. It can be a little challenging but nothing to be too scared of, it is worth it I promise! If you heed my advice and check it out then I have written a Feist Trophy Guide to help you out that you can find HERE. 🙂

If you would like a softer option which has a very easy-to-achieve platinum that you can just basically enjoy the journey of the game, then I highly recommend A Tale Of Paper. The platinum is very easy and will only take you about an hour, however, the game is so delightful and well made that it sticks in my mind as genuinely one of my favorites from the last few years. A very sweet game, don’t miss out on playing this little treat. I’ve also written A Tale Of Paper Trophy Guide you can check out HERE. 😉

Lastly I wanna give a shout-out to Deadlight Directors Cut. It’s a really cool zombie side-scrolling platformer that is so much better than you’d expect it to be, I truly loved every second of playing it. It’s pretty unique, with a slick shadowy art style, and yea I’d say it’s another must-play for any indie or zombie fan!

Indie games are a dime a dozen. They release more often than AAA games nowadays. Some are absolutely fantastic and some are…well let’s just say less than great. It’s definitely apparent what indie games are awful if you are in the achievement/trophy communities of your respective console. But why waste your time with those terrible games, when you could be playing a fantastic game instead!? I could recommend you hundreds of indie games that you NEED to play. But for the sake of this article, the one I’ll talk about today is Iconoclasts.

Iconoclasts follows the story of Robin, as she tries to escape from the government basically, as they don’t want her to do the work that she’s doing. The game plays like a Metroidvania and is so extremely well written, that I got lumps in my throat plenty of times with how much emotion is in the game. Sure there’s no voice acting, but there doesn’t need to be! Plus the locales are absolutely stunning. Especially the underwater areas! Now that I’m talking about it even more….I may have to redownload this and play it myself again…but I highly recommend you play it too! At least once!

Indie games are honestly never really in my wheelhouse of games I pick to play, but there are a few that I really enjoy and the one I’m currently loving just came out!

Operation: Tango is a game that really relies on cooperation with your partner, without great communication you get nowhere because you need to give info to each other throughout the whole game. As of writing, it is free on Playstation Plus, so there is no excuse, grab a friend and go play it! your friend doesn’t have a Playstation 5? he can download the demo and join your game, only 1 person needs to own the game!
