Karma The Dark World, is a very unique psychological thriller where you look into the memories of other people, but not everything is the way it seems, memories can be different then the way they actually happen, but 1 thing is for sure, something weird happened to the person how’s memories we are looking at. Here is our Karma: The Dark World Preview.
Pollard Studios has invited us to check out Karma: The Dark World, we did get a goodie for checking out the game, but this does not impact our opinions in any way. But we did enjoy our experience very much and we do recommend people to wishlist the game.
It sure was a strange experience, the game has many puzzles that make your head scratch but ended up making a lot of sense. In the demo, the developer did help me a little bit here and there to make the experience a bit quicker, because I did only have about 25 minutes with the game. But those 25 minutes made me want to see more and more and got me super invested in the story, even though I didn’t even see the start and got dropped at the start of a level in the middle of the game.
The way the demo started was while listening to a tape recorder, but then a monster arrived and everything is in shambles, we crawled away over the floor to try and not be seen by this strange creature. We tripped off a small audio box and its time to run… if we could at least, because we actually play as a handicapped person who injured his leg, so we are not the fastest, but still fast enough to outrun this creature.

When i was finally save, the puzzles started straight away, with following the Christmas lights to find our way out a fent, here is where I asked the devs about multiple paths and collectibles, because I did notice you could follow them in a different direction. And yes! There will be collectibles when the game releases, this will give you some more insight and lore for the story, but also a nice thing to look out for of course.
When I got out of the vent, the first REAL puzzle started, i needed to bring a TV to a specific place to open a door, but the room is filled with TVs set up like a Christmas tree. It was an interesting puzzle that ended with a strange door opening that you could only enter from 1 side, even though it was in the middle of the room. But not just that, because the whole world would go crazy and dogs would shake their heads like crazy.

And then it was time to work…. Yes work, you are forced to take some drug that makes you more efficient in your work while being fed propaganda about the drug. It was a bit of a slow part, but it still added a lot of lore about the game that kept it interesting.
From that moment on it was walking and running again, while being in spooky scenarios like where there are a ton of doors and a part where you have to put a TV on a body. The gameplay sounds not that interesting sometimes, but it does psychological horror perfectly in a way that keeps you on your toes the whole time.

Karma: The Dark World is a game worth keeping your eyes on, because when it comes out, it will be a must-play for horror fans.
