Today we’re talking about a game that’s either going to be a massive hit or a total flop. You see this a lot with games like these: the concept is amazing, but actually delivering on what you promise the community? That’s the real challenge. Lost Legions is developed and published by Tarock Interactive.
Story
It’s an open-world survival game where you explore and create. You play as a lost Roman soldier in the Teutoburg Forest, right after the disastrous defeat in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Your main goal is simple: survive by building, exploring, and fighting.
As you play, you’ll uncover secrets from a forgotten time, the mysteries of the ancient German forest. Play solo, or squad up with three friends. Explore different biomes (each with their own wildlife and resources), craft your gear, fight barbarians, build a Roman war camp, and rescue and recruit fellow soldiers who can fight alongside you. Recruited NPCs can also be sent out to gather resources or discover new locations. In the end, it’s your mission to reclaim the three standards of the lost legions and restore the honor of Rome.
The game features an intuitive crafting system where you discover recipes by dismantling broken gear left behind after the battle. On top of that, there’s a flexible building system: construct anything from a small hideout to a fully fortified war camp, conquer enemy villages, and rebuild them in your own style. We’ve also been told the story is gripping, touching on themes like betrayal, colonialism, and imperialism.
Easy to promise, hard to build
We see great potential in this game, though delivering on that promise will be a significant challenge. If the team pulls it off, this could truly be a masterpiece. That’s why we want to wish the developers the best of luck as they continue designing and building the game.
