In Mappy-Land you play as a mouse trying to grab every piece of cheese on the map while avoiding the cats. Here is our Mappy-Land Review.
The game was developed by TOSE and published by Namco, This version was originally released on November 26, 1986, for the Nintendo Entertainment System but has been ported over to some of the modern Nintendo platforms. It’s currently also available on the Nintendo Switch Online NES Service, this is also the version I played to review the game.
When looking at the games on the Switch NES service, this is a game that weirdly stood out to me, I don’t know why, but it just caught my attention with its blue in the sea of black covers, so when I played it, I was happy the game was just as bright and colorful as the cover.
Just like the majority of NES games, this is another simple one, you just grab the cheese, avoid the other moving targets, and go to the right side of the map through the gate. There are also some weapons you can use, but I chose to avoid them most of the time because it just put me in a bad place by using them too early making them useless.

It’s a fun game, but very much of the same each level, there are some variations like flying with a balloon and getting keys, but it doesn’t really change that much, and after a few levels I really had feel like I’ve seen it all already. I just wish there was something that would be a little bit different more often like the balloon level every other level instead of at the end of the world.
