Mario Bros. is the very 1st game to have the Mario branding and starts a legendary franchise. Here is our Mario Bros. Review.

The game is developed by Nintendo R&D2 and published by Nintendo, This version was originally released on Sep 09, 1983, for the Nintendo Entertainment System but has been ported over to the majority of Nintendo platforms. It’s currently also available on the Nintendo Switch Online NES Service.

the 80s was a different time with the games being more arcade focussed, and while games evolve, so did the arcade scene with games being longer and more in-depth, sadly, Mario Bros. did not age well with the time. We will review the game on today’s standards to see if it would be your time now, and I can tell you, that unless you grew up with the game, there is no reason to ever boot it up other than to spend 5 minutes on it just to say you played it once.

The controls are horrible and for some reason, Mario is really slippery making it hard to control the way you want to. Other than that, Mario also feels really slow while the enemies do look a lot smoother making it even harder to dodge and attack them.

Visually, the game is actually fine, it really made a solid first impression and gave the Mario franchise an identity that was recognizable straight away. The enemies look great, the characters look good and everything holds the identity that is still being used to this day with the Mario design and the pipes.

These days, the game is nothing more then a small mini game that would only be fun as a time passer in a 2/3 minute loading screen.
