Mighty Bomb Jack is an early platformer where you have to collect bombs, avoid enemies, and make it to the end of the level. Here is our Mighty Bomb Jack Review.
The game was developed and published by Tecmo, This version was originally released on April 14, 1986, for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It’s currently also available on the Nintendo Switch Online NES Service, this is also the version I played to review the game.
After playing a lot of NES games, I started enjoying them less and less over time, but this was a nice breath of fresh air and was pretty enjoyable for a while. Of course, just like every NES game, this also has its limits, but the game isn’t that long either, it only has 16 levels, making it better than a game that goes on for too long. Besides that, it is also a very easy game to get into, It is basically Mario but you have to pick up bombs for points.
The longer I played the more I understood the game and that it’s not as simple as just going to the right. There are also chests you can open by jumping on them, but you jump pretty high and slow, this got super annoying at one point, but when I accidentally double-tapped the button, it would just glide, something I wish I knew sooner.

The visuals are just fine, a bit messy at times but nothing really bad. There is at least a background and it is clear to see what is dangerous or good and where you need to go. The levels are the perfect length and do a good job of differentiating themselves from each other and make the game feel less boring then it actually is.
