Ninja JaJaMaru-kun is a simple game where you have to take down enemies on each floor but each time you complete a level the difficulty increases with new enemies. now it’s also available on current-gen Nintendo hardware. Here is our Ninja JaJaMaru-kun Review.
The game was developed and published by Jaleco, it was released on November 15, 1985, for the Famicom as a Japan exclusive, but in 2022 it also came out for the Switch in the Nintendo Switch Online service even in the West.
Ninja JaJaMaru-kun is surprisingly frustrating, for its simplicity, the enemies make up for it in its difficulty and while it’s super easy in the beginning, when more difficult enemies come, it’s starting to become a massive pain to play. Luckily, with the rewind feature of the Nintendo Switch Online service, it’s become a lot more bearable, but still not a game I would play for fun just for that difficulty alone.
The enemies just become annoying and sometimes there is no real way of taking them down and you just get stuck without being able to do anything to save yourself from defeat. and while they are annoying the 1st time, it’s only when there is 1 of them that they are difficult for some reason, when there are 7 of them they suddenly become this easy thing to defeat but each time there is only 1 of an enemy on the map, it was pure torture.

The game could be a bit more extended if it had more settings, but I think I kept rotating between 4 different ones that grew pretty boring after a bit as well. You could also grab some items but what they did I’m not sure, nothing really seemed to happen other than giving you some more points. By the end of my session, I was left pretty disappointed.
