If you know me well, you know I’m a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes (the one with Benedict Cumberbatch). That also means I’ve always wanted to be a detective myself. And that’s exactly what I got to do in Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club. This game is developed by Cradle Games and published by GameMill Entertainment.
Nostalgia
I still have fond memories of Snoopy, that adorable and charming little dog. But for anyone who doesn’t know Snoopy: Snoopy and his friends come from the world of Peanuts, a famous comic strip created by Charles M. Schulz. The strip was first published in 1950 and grew into one of the most beloved and influential comics of all time. The stories revolve around a group of children and their pet Snoopy as they explore life together. Just like in real life, there are ups and downs. While it’s often funny, there’s usually a philosophical or melancholic undertone as well. Most of the stories take place near Charlie Brown’s house, on the school playground, or at the baseball field.
Surprise
Let me get straight to the point: I absolutely loved this game! And honestly, I didn’t see that coming. Sure, it’s officially a kids’ game, but it doesn’t feel that way at all. Okay, maybe you can tell from the difficulty level, but it’s beautifully balanced. It’s not overly childish, yet not too adult-focused either. It’s a kids’ game that adults can truly enjoy. While playing, I never got bored for a single moment, and I even found myself wanting to jump back in whenever I wasn’t playing. That doesn’t happen to me very often anymore. The game looks great visually, and the sound design, especially the voice acting, is really well done.

Gameplay
You play as Snoopy, Charlie’s beloved pet. The game is full of fairly easy puzzles and various mini-games. You step into Snoopy’s paws as you explore the town, solve tricky cases, and uncover hidden secrets together with Charlie’s friends. There are mysterious events at school for you to investigate, or clues to find in the forest. You build your own team with familiar friends like Peppermint Patty, Lucy, Marcie, Schroeder, and Franklin, each with their own unique abilities. You travel through the town and try to solve all sorts of mysteries and puzzles.
Roles
Snoopy can take on different roles. For instance, he can be a detective who can spot clues, or a Fierce Pirate searching for treasure. Each role has its own clever tool, like a leaf blower, magnifying glass, or metal detector. As I mentioned earlier, there are several mini-games. Think of racing, baseball, soccer, crafting, memory games, scavenger hunts, and even piano playing, plus flying so you can chase down the Red Baron.

Conclusion
All in all, I had an absolutely great time with Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club. I never thought I’d get so hooked on a kids’ game as an adult, but this title really surprised me. The game is charming and super relaxing. That said, I do have to admit the price feels a bit steep. Forty euros at launch is quite a lot, especially for a game clearly aimed at a younger audience. Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club is a warm, cheerful, and surprisingly delightful game!
