With the Olympic games underway we wanted to follow the theme of the mighty people who battle for the top spot and earn the title of a gold medalist. For our list, however, we have gone through the Sports Games On PlayStation Plus To Play During The Olympics to see what’s worth playing.
Rapala Fishing: Pro Series

Probably the more tranquil and peaceful of the sporting activities, Fishing is an age-old activity of patience. Utilising a Boat to locate good spots to go fishing in and a rod, line, and reel to perform the act of fishing all you need to do is select the bait and wait for a bite.

While starting our list, Rapala is one of the most entertaining and fun titles for a fishing experience. Where it is faster and cheaper than actually taking up the sport, a simulated experience of the sport is worth a look.

Developed by Concrete Software and published by GameMill Entertainment, this fishing game is one to look at. Not only do you have standard fish to hunt for but also legendary ones which are harder to find and give more of a challenge.
Tennis World Tour 2

What can we say about tennis? Opposing players stand on different ends of a small court holding a wood or plastic item with a nylon wire strung between an oval opening. With these, they “serve” a spherical object over a net running the width of the playing area.

While a rewarding game, playing this, much like playing football, basketball, or baseball feels like it should be played in person rather than digitally. This game on the other hand has some interesting components but it feels like it gets old fast.

Developed by Big Ant Studios and published by BIGBEN INTERACTIVE SA, all we can say is if you like tennis you might want to play a real-world game over a video game. This is mainly because of how rewarding it feels.
NBA 2K 24

Basketball, a game where two teams of five players participate on a rectangular court to score points in a hoop. Players “dribble” a ball while they are in locomotion by bouncing it on the floor until they reach the point at which to shoot and attempt to score a point, keeping it away from the opposing team.

While basketball is a more hands-on type of sport, it is probably best played as a video game as the Stamina, Dexterity, and Skill needed to play this is about the same as Football. Personally, this is an interesting game as being able to experience what it is like to play at an NBA standard seems more appealing than Fifa.

Developed by Visual Concepts and Published by 2K, Although a game that indicates you need some knowledge of the sport it is still fun to play.
Cricket 24

Cricket is a game which is played between two teams of 11 players, one team will be Bowling and Fielding while the other is Batting. While one team member bowls a spherical object towards one of the other team players who is batting, a second player stands at the end of a 22-yard run and is designated as a NoneBatter. The basic idea is the Batter protects his Wicket which is a set of 3 upright sticks with 2 small pieces of wood that balance on top. If the bowler hits the Wicket of the Batter they are out and a new batter is called, if the batter hits the ball then the two players (Batter and NoneBatter) run the length of the 22-yard play zone to score points before the ball is returned to the bowling zone, alternatively, if the ball is caught by a member of the Bowling and Fielding team the Batter is out.

Out of this and Baseball, I would personally pick Baseball as it can allow more variety to the scoring, at least from my understanding. While this is accurate, Cricket is quite an old game and has a long history, Originating in England in the 16th century it wasn’t until 1900 that it was included in the Olympics

Developed by Big Ant Studios and Published by Nacon, As sports games go Cricket 24 is actually a really enjoyable game which you can sink into pretty easily.
Blood Bowl 3

Our final selection this month is taking a step back from the real world and going into Fantasy. We couldn’t do this list and not include the Warhammer 40K version of American Football, Let’s face it, we have had nice friendly games we needed something more brutal and Blood Bowl fit our purpose.

Set to the backdrop of the Warhammer 40K universe built by GamesWorkshop, and with the main theme of American Football this is a must-play for any sports fan… or 40K fan. Although it features the depiction of what could be seen as murderous intent and other things it is still a more or less friendly game of American Football.

Developed by Cyanide and Published by Nacon, this is a fantastic game that depicts American Football there could be things done differently, that being said it is a fun game.
