In Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, you follow a brand new format different from the classic Ghost Recon games and go to an open world to take down a drug cartel. Here is our full Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands Review.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is developed and published by Ubisoft. It was released on February 3, 2017, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In Ghost Recon Wildlands you play as Nomad, a self-created character that is sent to Bolivia with his/her squad to take down the heads of a drug cartel and then take down the leader, kinda. There are a few storylines that need to be completed to finally get to their leader, the 4 sub-leaders all have their own thing to look over, Influence, production, security, and smuggling.
During its rather lengthy story you try to cripple each of these branches, not sure if doing all these things actually makes the world itself easier, but you have to do it regardless. There is actually a lot of variety in the game while offering the same 10 types of missions, but the phasing is so good that you don’t really get bored doing the same thing again. Unless you leave all the side content at last, then you will get kinda bored doing those if you wanna grind out that 100%.

I have been playing the whole game with a friend and had an amazing time, but it did feel like we got handicapped a bit by not having 2 extra AI characters that you would have if you played solo to fill up your 4-player squad, but it was fun non the less. There have been a few times that a mission would unlock for my friend but not for me, for me it would sometimes unlock after doing it for my friend, this was a bit strange at times because we had to do the same mission 2 times in a row due to it.
Speaking of glitches, we barely noticed any, which is rare for a Ubisoft title. But I said barely, not non, but they were actually the fun kind of glitches. At times cars would spawn upside down floating a tiny bit in the air, or when my friend (Invictus) with his bad driving would hit a rock we would go flying. That would generate a ton of laughs at times because we just didn’t care about them happening randomly if it was happening during non-important moments.

My biggest annoyance was how fast helicopters would accidentally break or when the rockets would start coming. After like 40 hours of playtime in the game including the 1st DLC, I still have no clue how to actually dodge them the right way, but we managed either way.
I would say that even almost 6 years after the game came out, it still is a blast to play. The only thing that looks a little bit dated are the visuals, but it’s not that bad, it just falls in between that period where devs started to up the game a bit more with realism.
