Roadmap:

Step 1: Greatness From Small Beginnings
For this stage of the game, you will play through the game in Hard Difficulty (or Easy/ Normal), completing the collection and learning the story of Nathan Drake. There isn’t really anything that you need to worry about, as everything can be obtained easily through chapter selection; therefore, if you happen to miss a collectable, it is easy to return to the location later. You will also want to aim to complete the Collection by finding all 61 Treasures scattered throughout the game. In addition, you should aim to obtain numerous miscellaneous Trophies for different Kills. It is recommended to hit Hard Difficulty to limit the Grind to Platinum; however, Stage 3 is highlighted for completing Hard Difficulty later if you wish.

You’ll be earning these trophies:

Step 2: Weapon & Time Challenges
During the second phase of this guide, you will be taking on the monumental task of farming out the kill Trophies, which you didn’t get in the First playthrough, and completing the Time Trials. The kills will be cumulative and can all be tracked in the stats menu, but the time trials might take some trial and error to get you through. While they are not overall tight constraints, it’s getting to know where to go and not making too many mistakes.

Step 3: Hard
For this stage, you will embark on completing the game in Hard difficulty which will let you utilise the Tweaks Glitch in both Crushing & Brutal Difficulties. This isn’t too much harder than if you play in Normal Difficulty; enemies might hit harder and take more to kill, but a well-placed Headshot will take them down as easily. You will also receive more damage from enemies, so the use of cover shooting would be a good move. Once you have completed Hard, you will be able to take on Crushing.

During this step, you’ll earn the following trophies:

Charted! – Hard

Step 4: Crushing!!
For this stage, you will want to move your attention to complete the game in the “Core” hardest Difficulty, Crushing. Unlike the PS3 release of the game, the PS4 Nathan Drake Collection will have you complete the game in yet another, even more difficult difficulty setting. Unfortunately, you can’t skip Crushing to play in the new hardest difficulty from the DLC, and it doesn’t change the fact that you will still need to complete the game in Brutal Difficulty for the DLC Gold Trophy, which means you will need to complete both Crushing and Brutal separately from one another. Thankfully, there is a glitch outlined in Charted! – Crushing and in the DLC Charted! – Brutal, which should be used to get through the game.

During this step you’ll earn the following trophies:

Charted! – Crushing

Step 5: Extended Collection Trophies
For this stage, you will need to take on the PS4-exclusive trophies, which are not all that challenging. The Speed Runs are somewhat challenging, but completing them on Easy Difficulty is simple. As for the new Difficulty, Brutal Difficulty, in a word, this is unforgiving during some sections, but the game is still not all that bad. Please refer to the Extended Collection Trophies Guide for more information.

Tips and Strategies:

TIPS:

  • Focus on your weapon challenges (Weapon Kills)
  • If a weapon is out of ammo, you won’t drop it; instead, you replace the weapon when equipping a new one.
  • Refer to your journal when you are stuck
  • Use the TIPS function in the Gameplay settings
  • If you need to use the Cover Trick to pick off enemies without endangering yourself.

Charted! – Crushing
Finish the Game on Crushing Without Changing the Difficulty

Completing the game isn’t all that difficult, but when you change the difficulty to hard or Crushing specifically, the game can get challenging in some encounters. All you will need to do is make it from the Prologue all the way to Chapter 22 without changing the difficulty. Firstly, for this trophy, Crushing is available straight from the beginning. Secondly, if you have played this on PS3, the Nathan Drake Collection is slightly easier.

That being said, there is a nice, easy way to get you the trophies for Brutal and Crushing utilising the Crushing Exploit. It’s not really a necessary thing to try and do on Hard or below, besides the fact that what you will want to do this for, you will need to have completed Hard difficulty. The idea is you start the game on the difficulty you want. Once you take control of Drake, you pause and head into the Options and the Game Settings to change the difficulty. Change the difficulty to the next one down from what you picked. If you pick Crushing, you need to set the game to Hard; if you pick Brutal, you need to set the game to Crushing. Once you have, press the Options Button on the Controller. DO NOT press to go back or anything else. If done correctly, you will exit the menu and return to the game. Pause the game, and you should be in the menu, and if you check your difficulty, you should be in the lower difficulty you just set. From here, you will be able to enable the Tweaks while still in the difficulty you downgraded to (Provided you completed this difficulty). It is recommended to enable the following to make life easier;

  • Infinite Ammo
  • One-Shot Kills

While useful, it is personal Preference if you want to enable Slow Motion or Super Slow Motion, but once you have enabled all the tweaks you would like, just head back to the difficulty selection in the Game Options. From here, reset the difficulty you started in and press the Options Button to exit the menu. That is all there is to it. Now you will be playing on the higher difficulty while using bonuses from a lower difficulty. You can also enable whatever weapon you would like to be using, but remember that when you change chapters, or have events like when Drake is sent to prison, you will lose your chosen gun and need to redo the glitch.

Now, all you need to do is complete the game on this difficulty, and the trophy should unlock. The best part about this is the Tweaks stay active if you die, so you don’t need to reapply them if you happen to die.

100 Headshots
Kill 100 Enemies with Headshots

250 Headshots
Defeat 250 Enemies with Headshots

This can’t be simpler; all you need to do is aim for headshots whenever in combat. Line your crosshair up with the enemy’s head and shoot.

Headshot Expert
Kill 5 Enemies in a Row with Headshots

Much like 250 Headshots, you will need to kill enemies with headshots only; the difference with this trophy, however, is that you need to kill 5 in a row with headshots. This isn’t difficult; all you need to do is be patient and take your time while you aim for the head.

Brutal Brawler
Kill 5 Enemies with Brutal Combo

Please refer to Brutal Slugger for more information.

Brutal Slugger
Kill 20 Enemies with Brutal Combo

Brutal Combos are introduced in the Prologue, where you are defending the boat. To perform one, you need to press:

Square, Triangle, Square.

If performed correctly, Drake will kill the enemy fast and in only 3 hits. Do keep in mind that you are vulnerable to other enemies shooting you.

Brutal Expert
Kill 5 Enemies in a Row with Brutal Combo

Like Brutal Slugger, you are going to need to use Brutal Combos on enemies. For this trophy, you are required to kill 5 enemies in a row with Brutal Combos. Simply don’t attack enemies using other means, and you should get this in no time.

Triple Dyno-Might!
Kill 3 Enemies with 1 Explosion

Please refer to Dyno-Might Master for more information.

Dyno-Might Master
Kill 3 Enemies with 1 Explosion 5 Times

Explosives count anything from Grenades to Explosive Barrels and even propelled explosives, meaning you have a wide range of tools at your disposal. In order to get these trophies all you need to do is line up 3 enemies in close enough proximity to be killed together and use your explosive item on them.

Hangman
Kill 20 Enemies with Gunfire While Hanging

Please refer to Grenade Hangman for more information.

Greande Hangman
Kill 10 Enemies with Grenades While Hanging

The Hangman move is performed when you are hanging on a ledge or rope. All you need to do for either of these trophies is to aim your gun, which will target with your sidearm, or ready a grenade. Killing 20 with gunfire should come naturally, as it should be the default mode to aim at battle situations, whereas Grenades should be utilised when you have a few enemies or want to force them out of cover.

Run-and-Gunner
Kill 20 Enemies by Shooting from the Hip (Without Aiming)

All you need to do for this trophy is shoot at enemies without using the L2 button, known as Hip Firing, Run-and-Gun, or blindfire. Killing enemies with this method is sadly ineffective, as it will take more bullets to kill than straight-up targeting the enemy. The advantage of this method is that it can keep some enemies at bay, and if you need to get away from enemies but want to keep fire on them, you might end up killing them while escaping.

Steel Fist
Kill 5 Enemies with a Single Punch After Weakening Them with Gunfire

Please refer to Steal Fist Expert for more information.

Steal Fist Expert
Kill 10 Enemies in a Row with a Single Punch After Weakening Them with Gunfire

For these trophies, you will need to kill enemies with a single blow once you have weakened them with Gunfire. This is a tall ask, but easy enough. If you use the Prologue to start this, all you need to do is wait until the enemies are boarding your boat and then blindfire your sidearm at the enemy once. Provided you hit them, they should be able to be taken down in a single punch. For this trophy, however, you need to do it 10 times in a row, which means you can’t break the chain by killing in other ways.

Master Ninja
Kill 50 Enemies by Melee-Attacking from Behind

This trophy is only asking you to do a total of 50 Stealth kills. Stealth kills happen when you sneak up behind enemies and interact with them using the Square Button. You can only do this if the enemies don’t know you are there, and you haven’t been seen by anyone.

Survivor
Kill 75 Enemies in a Row Without Dying

As you progress through the game, you will undoubtedly kill enemies. For this trophy, you are required to kill a total of 75 enemies in a row without dying or restarting; doing either of these will reset the streak and require you to return to 1 kill. Overall, the only difficulty is the Parkour section of the game, which might break your streak. Other than that, use the cover to your advantage, and you should have an easy time earning this trophy.

For all these, you are required to make a total number of kills with a specific weapon. Both the amount of kills and the weapon which you need to use are named, which makes this straightforward. During the author’s playthrough for collectables, they worked on these trophies to see how easy it would be to achieve them in the same run. As it turns out, if you keep track of the weapon and the kills you have made, you can achieve all of these trophies within the confines of the campaign’s playthrough.

Shoot Some B-Roll For Elena
Explore Photo Mode

Firstly, for this trophy, you will need to enable the Photo Mode in the settings. Once you have all you need, all you have to do is press Down on the D-Pad, and the trophy is yours.

These Walls Can’t Stop Me
Beat Chapter 5 – The Fortress in less than 10 minutes

Chapter 5 is the second hardest challenge trophy in the game; for this, you will need to complete the entire chapter in Time-Trial mode to keep track of the time. In order to get this in Time-Trial mode, you will need to finish the chapter. There are some bonuses, like pausing will stop the timer and restarting the checkpoint will return you to the checkpoint and reset the time to what it was at that time. The Fortress is a hard challenge because of how much of the chapter is slow. There are 4 main encounters and a battle with a mounted gun. In addition to this, there is a slow climbing section at the start and a water puzzle where you swim at the end.

Below is a video to help guide you through:

Up a Short Creek Without a Paddle
Beat Chapter 12 – Heading Upriver in less than 5 minutes

While 5 Minutes seems a short time for this chapter, it is one of the faster ones, needing you to use a Jet Ski to get upriver. While this sounds easy, you do have enemies shooting at you, Explosive Oil Drums coming down the River, and the currents moving off track too much, it feels like you are on Ice rather than water. Conveniently, below is a video of how you can make it through this.

A Speedy Reunion
Beat Chapter 16 – The Treasure Vault in less than 7 minutes

Chapter 16 is the hardest challenge trophy in the game, making even little mistakes here will cost you, and most of the mission is a puzzle-solving challenge. In addition to this, it starts from when Drake saves Sully from being crushed and ends when you find Sir Francis, which is quite a distance. The biggest part that might slow you down is the combat; there is a rather nasty encounter which asks you to deal with some one-hit kill enemies and all while battling the clock. Below is a video to help you through this encounter.
